About the Weight Tracker
What this tool does
The weight tracker helps you record source measurements — weight, goals, and optional body measurements — so you can see trends rather than single-day noise.
Calculators elsewhere on DoseFirst Body & Weight remain usable without an account. Authentication is only needed when you want cloud save and sync.
What inputs are required
- Weigh-in: weight, unit (kg or lb), date, optional note.
- Goal: starting weight, target weight, unit, optional target date.
- Body measurements: type (height, waist, neck, hip, or body-fat %), value, unit, date, optional note.
How the result is calculated
- The tracker stores the measurements you enter; it does not recompute BMI on the server.
- Progress charts plot your weigh-ins over time and can show change versus a starting or goal weight.
- Signed-in sync uses DoseFirst Body & Weight APIs; anonymous mode uses local browser storage only.
What the result means
- Trends matter more than any single weigh-in. Short-term changes often reflect hydration and gut contents.
- A goal line is a planning aid, not a medically prescribed target.
- Measurement history supports other educational tools (for example composition estimates) without replacing clinical records.
Important limitations
- Local browser storage can be cleared by the device or browser settings.
- Cloud sync requires a configured API and an active session.
- The tracker does not diagnose conditions or recommend calorie intake.
When professional guidance may be useful
- Share printed or exported trends with a clinician if you are managing illness, medication effects, or structured weight-change plans.
- Seek urgent care for rapid unexplained weight loss or gain, especially with other symptoms.
